La Stoppa's Ageno is a white wine that pays homage, with its name, to the winery's former owner who first believed in the area's potential and wanted to enhance it. Each of the grapes with which it's produced bring the right characteristic that will be revealed only in the final balance felt on tasting. The 40-year-old vines are trained by Guyot and are rooted on clay-loam soils. Cultivation respects the dictates of organic farming.
Ageno is made by spontaneous fermentation of the grapes in steel. The long 30-day maceration on the skins means that no sulfur additions are required. In fact, the wine is protected by the mass of the skins and does not risk decomposed oxidative phenomena. No clarification or filtration takes place.
Ageno is characterized on the eye by an elegant peaty amber color with bright hues. On the nose, the varietal character of the aromatic grapes emerges, but overall it is dynamic, with hints of tea, karkadè, intriguing oxidative references, jam, caramel and oriental spices. After a short stop, Mediterranean notes also begin to emerge. The palate is complex, charming, smooth and well balanced by great freshness. In addition, red winemaking only enhances the tannic component of the white grapes. Amplifier of conviviality.
