Rosato 'Rosso Relativo' Bonaccorsi - Valcerasa 2019

The "Rosso Relativo" of Valcerasa, the Etnean winery of Alice Bonaccorsi and Rosario Pappalardo, is a rosé wine of ancient memory. In fact, maceration here has never historically been too long and the reds always remained a little drained of colour. Not a defect, no one would think of an oxidised wine, but a reminiscence of an ancient tradition.

Etna is almost like a burning paradise for those who want to make wine there. Of course, one must also be careful how one interacts with the environment! Volcanic soils that allow the growth of saplings with a strong identity and remarkable character, often still on pié franco. The 40-year-old vines of 'Rosso Relativo' rest on skeleton-rich soils at an altitude of 750 metres. It is made from grapes harvested strictly by hand, which are then destemmed and softly pressed. Fermentation is spontaneous and takes place in steel, with maceration on the skins lasting about 36 hours.

Valcerasa's "Rosso Relativo" is a warm and intense rosé in colour, tending towards red. On the nose the wine tastes like wine, no artifice or Pindaric flight, it is rich and expressive, with notes of red fruits, broom and linden. On the palate there is a nice breadth, it is balanced, fresh, discreetly mineral and with a pleasant aromatic persistence. Treat it with care, or it will surprise you. In a positive way of course!
