Timorasso 'Il Montino' La Colombera 2013

The Timorasso Il Montino is the most representative cru of La Colombera, a farm founded in 1937 and since more than a decade engaged in a process of enhancement of old vineyards, planted in the middle of last century with traditional varieties of Tortona hills: among these stands out Timorasso, a white grape variety that produces structured wines, really aromatic and therefore particularly suitable for aging. The estate vineyards are located in a beautiful natural amphitheater overlooking the plains of Tortona, in a location that provides hotter and drier climates in comparison with the surrounding areas, often bringing the grapes to an early maturation. Between 2000 and 2005 the company owner Elisa Semino, assisted by his father Piercarlo, decided to follow experiments of sensory analysis based on all their Timorasso grapes, coming from the five family vineyards: among all, stood out the vineyard of Montino, able to give during the study period always the best grapes. In 2006, for the first time, at La Colombera the grapes of Montino were vinified separately, creating the acclaimed Timorasso symbol of the company: tasty and juicy, with a very polished aromatic part, Timorasso Il Montino arouses most of the wineguides to enthusiasm for its harmony and elegance, preparing for a promising evolution in time.
