Chardonnay 'Teresa Manara' Cantele 2021

Cantele's "Teresa Manara" Chardonnay is a white aged in barriques, with a rich, broad and soft profile. This white wine from Burgundy has long dwelled in Apulia, where it expresses itself with a sunny and typically Mediterranean character. To the nose it's very intense, almost persuasive thanks to aromas of ripe yellow fruit, notes of exotic fruit, hints of honey and spices. The sip is enveloping and warm, with ripe fruit, great softness, harmony of flavour and long final persistence.

The white "Teresa Manara" Cantele Chardonnay is dedicated to a female figure who played a fundamental role in the destiny of the Cantele winery. It is thanks to her resourcefulness and tenacity that the winery developed and became successful, and still continues today in the wake of her work and memory. The estate is located in the Guagnano area, in the heart of Salento, a very windy region with a warm, Mediterranean climate, mitigated by sea breezes. The soils originate from the clayey calcarenites of Salento, which are rather deep and rich in limestone and sand. The Chardonnay is grown using the Guyot method and is generally harvested around mid-August. After soft pressing, the must is cooled down to 10 °C and fermented in stainless steel at 15 °C, which then ends in barriques. The wine matures in barrique on the fine lees for about 8 months before being bottled.

Cantele's Chardonnay "Teresa Manara" is a wine for those who love rich, complex, harmonious and soft whites, characterised by a beautiful ripeness of fruit and evolved tertiary aromas. The colour is an intense straw yellow, with brilliant golden hues. The olfactory profile opens on soft spicy scents, citrus fruits aromas, hints of ripe yellow fruit, tropical and dried fruit, with honeyed and woody nuances. Ample and rich, sipping it we perceive an envelopping silkiness, characterised by intense fruit aromas and harmonious spicy sensations, which accompany towards a finish of great persistence.
