The Saint-Émilion "Sulfite Free" Château Barrail Saint André, produced by the domaine Vignobles Coutant, is a label born from the desire of Agnés and her son Damien, owners of several restaurants in Bordeaux, to offer their customers a healthy and genuine wine, made without any addition of sulfites, neither during the winemaking phase nor before bottling. The result is a surprising red, which conquers for its ability to express in a direct way the best varietal characteristics of an excellent pure Merlot, with a fragrant and crisp fruit, rich in primary aromas still perfectly intact and with a pleasant youthful verve, direct and immediate.
The "Sulfite Free" Saint-Émilion Château Barrail Saint André from Vignobles Coutant originates in the Saint-Etienne de Lisse area, which lies within the famous Saint-Émilion territory, a legendary place for lovers of great Merlots. The estate covers a total of about 15 hectares, in an area with a particularly mild climate, thanks to the proximity of the great Gironde estuary of the Atlantic Ocean. The Merlot grapes come from a parcel of the estate cultivated in an area characterized by the presence of particularly suitable limestone-clay soils. The clusters are selected in the vineyard so that only perfectly healthy grapes are brought to the winery, a prerequisite for a vinification process without the use of sulfites. At the end of fermentation, with classic maceration on the skins, the wine rests a few months in steel tanks before being bottled.
The red Saint-Émilion "Sulfite Free" Château Barrail Saint André from Vignobles Coutant is an extraordinarily pleasant drinking wine, very supple at the table and suitable for pairing with pasta with meat sauce or white meat main courses. In the glass it has a dark, luminous ruby red color. On the nose it offers intense and exuberant aromas, reminiscent of cherry, blueberry, currant, black cherry, nuances of herbs and underbrush. The palate is pleasantly fruity, with juicy aromas and subtle tannins. The sip is harmonious and rich, clear and pure, with a fresh finish, returning to notes of ripe red fruit. This is a wine to be consumed young, within two to three years of the vintage
