Valtellina Superiore Inferno 'Fiamme Antiche' Ar.Pe.Pe. 2012

The Inferno "Fiamme Antiche" by Ar.Pe.Pe. is a very prestigious wine that comes from vines that are over 50 years of age, situated at 450 meters above sea level and which have their roots in poor soils, mainly composed of granitic rock flaked. We are in Valtellina, in the heart of Inferno, a truly remarkable terroir for this fantastic example of Nebbiolo mountain. After harvesting, the grapes are left to macerate for 12 days in vats of chestnut before the wort is transferred into oak barrels where it remains for at least two years to evolve and develop a truly important. The color, garnet red with orange reflections, suggests that we are now facing a big mountain Nebbiolo that opens with notes of cherry, plum liqueur, nutmeg, cloves with a finish of rich spice.
