Nuits St. Georges Premier Cru 'Murgers' Hudelot Noellat 2018

The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Les Murgers," from Domaine Hudelot Noëllat, is an elegant and refined red, born in one of the 41 Climat classified as Premier Cru present in the communal territory of this important Appellation, which gives its name to the Côte de Nuits. The domaine has about 10 hectares of vineyards, divided into many parcels of considerable value, particularly suited to the cultivation of Pinot Noir, which is the main variety in this area of the Côte d'Or. The cool climate, with good temperature ranges, and soils composed mainly of limestone, with the presence of clay, silt and pebbles, constitute an ideal habitat for high-quality viticulture.

The Premier Cru "Les Murgers" is a Nuits-Saint-Georges from Domaine Hudelot Noëllat created to give voice to a parcel of particular value, so that its special characteristics can be enhanced and made known. The wine comes from a vineyard covering an area of just over half a hectare and is located in the Premier Cru Les Murgers, situated in the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges municipal territory, almost on the border with Vosne-Romanée. The Climat is characterized by a sunny east-facing exposure and limestone-clay soils. The Pinot Noir vines are about 40 years old and are harvested by hand, with selection of the best bunches in the vineyard. Fermentation is carried out using only indigenous yeasts and with 20 percent of the grapes whole cluster. Before bottling, which takes place without clarification or filtration, the wine matures for about 16 months in French oak barrels, 30% new.

"Les Murgers" Premier Cru Nuits-Saint-Georges, made by Domaine Hudelot Noëllat, is a splendid version of Pinot Noir that perfectly represents the personality of this famous Climat. It is light and bright ruby red in color with light purple highlights. The nose expresses aromas of raspberry, currant, strawberry, hints of underbrush and delicate spices, enhanced by refined floral nuances. On the palate it's delicate, with a fine tannic texture and harmoniously multifaceted aromas, leading towards a fresh and persistent finish. Already very pleasant to taste immediately, it has a good aging potential.
