Pinot Nero Les Cretes 2021

Pinot Noir is an authoritative spokesperson for the winemaking experience of Les Cretes, a winery founded in 1989 in Aymavilles in Valle d'Aosta, which owns 25 splendid hectares positioned along the orographic axis of the Dora Baltea, from Saint Pierre to Saint Cristophe. The production area of Les Cretes, which originates in the difficult mountainous terrain, is characterized by a high fragmentation of vineyards and high planting densities due to the slopes of the terrain, whose moraine and sandy soils provide an ideal environment for the cultivation of numerous native and international varieties, as is the case with Pinot Noir.

The alpine climate strongly influences the organoleptic characteristics of the local wines: the grapes, harvested late in the year, undergo strong temperature swings due to the autumn temperature range (+22°C during the day and 0°C at night); this phenomenon, typical of mountain areas, favors the formation of aromatic precursors in the cluster, which considerably enrich the odor component of the wines. The vineyard workings of Les Cretes reflect the marked desire to minimize phytosanitary interventions, while respecting natural production factors.

The Pinot Noir of Les Cretes, produced since 1995 at La Tour, a short distance from the medieval hermitage that has now become the winery's symbol on the label, was born with these logics. Pinot Noir grapes, contrary to traditional methods that require their vinification in wood, are here vinified entirely in steel. This choice is intended to highlight Les Cretes' desire to give birth to a fresh and pleasant wine, capable of standing out for its elegance and finesse.
